Short hairstyles on women has ALWAYS been a “controversial” topic in the media for whatever dumb reason. So for short celebrity hairstyles, 2019 is gonna be THE YEAR, right?
(Ok, so I don’t really have short hair in that pic, BUT it looks like it!!)
I mean seriously, what’s the deal with policing the amount of hair on a woman’s, uh, head? (Or a man’s, for that matter, although the man-bun trend seems to be pretty well-received among the ladies!! 😉 )
Miley Cyrus…J Law…Emma Watson…HALSEY…so many FAMOUS FACES have been beautifully framed by short haircuts.
I wanna preface this by saying I don’t think I’d get a short cut myself since I really love my hair the way it is.
But I do wanna say that I really admire these ladies for such a strong, bold choice and I think it looks great on them!!
When it comes to short celebrity hairstyles, 2019 is shaping up to be a great year already, with Katy Perry talking about it in a new interview with Paper Magazine. She said that “People talk about her hair” and “wish it was longer.”
Honestly, I thought that really symbolized how people can criticize ANYTHING we do!! They’ll say, “I wish you would/wouldn’t have…” but I think the point is to not let what they say shake your faith in YOUR DECISIONS.
I mean, people accused Miley Cyrus of having a “breakdown” way back when she got her short haircut. But that gave her the opportunity to spread an important message:
“I mean, we’re not living in the freaking 1950s. Short hair is okay.”
And short haircuts are seen differently on different women. You know what I mean??
Emma Watson was seen as “prim and proper” when she cut off her locks, BUT for Miley it was just seen as part of a series of reckless, out-of-control decisions.
However, instead of seeing this as hypocritical, you might also see it as an opportunity…if you decide to shear your own locks. Thinking of getting one of these short celebrity hairstyles, 2019 or maybe next year?
Then think, what would a short celebrity hairstyle do for ME?? Are you trying to look more edgy? Smart and proper? Modern or vintage?
And, just as your personality can shape the way people view your haircut (Emma vs. Miley), your haircut can shape the way people see you.
Do you want to shave the sides of your head and leave a floppy, fun fauxhawk on top? The way Halsey just did for SNL! And what about bangs: do you want to keep them to one side with hairspray, or have no bangs at all? Shag? Pixie??
So, even though your hair shouldn’t have to “make a statement” in the sense that people should not see it as a “big deal”…you want to make sure the “statement” ENHANCES your best self, and expresses your personality!! ♥
