OK, so I KNOW it’s halfway through January already, but of course the Internet is still abuzz about “Veganuary”!!
If you haven’t heard of it, it’s kinda along the same lines as “No Shave November,” which is actually for a good cause too. Men (and women! ๐ ) stop shaving to raise awareness for cancer.
Because ideally for No Shave November, you’re supposed to use that money you would usually use on shaving stuff, and spend it on donations to a cancer charity or hospital instead!!
You don’t have to donate anything for VEGANUARY, unless you want to donate to awesome vegan charities like “Chilis on Wheels” (no relation to the restaurant) that gives hot VEGAN meals to the poor in winter. Cool idea! Or there’s “Food Not Bombs,” which collects produce that can’t be sold at grocery stores and gives it to those in need.
Their motto is an awesome quote from MLK, which I thought was super timely since we just had MLK Day! “A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
So yeah, that charity also protests war SO your mileage may vary on how you feel about that!
And I know people’s mileage may vary on VEGANISM too!! Are we all just a bunch of “tree huggers” or what?? ๐
Of course that’s because of the people who are pushy and try to guilt you if you don’t do it.
I think that’s wrong because there are so many people I love who don’t follow this same lifestyle, and I doubt that yelling and fighting is the best way to change anybody’s mind!!
That’s why I think Veganuary is SUCH an awesome idea, especially around the holidays. It’s a month where people who are considering veganism on their own can try it out, judgment free, and see how they feel.
And did you know, this whole concept is actually its own charity too? ‘
And over A QUARTER OF A MILLION PEOPLE signed up this year!?
That’s record-breaking. <3
So yeah, if you’re wanting to sign up officially through the website, it’s not too late! You can still register here and they’ll send you emails with daily meal plans (and recipes to go with it, of course!)
But hey, I’m not going to “judge” you either way! There are a lot of New Years Resolutions type stuff you can do and you know what, it’s not to late to start on something just because it’s already the 24th (or maybe later if you’re reading this later!!!).
The idea of “New Years Resolutions,” and also the idea of “Veganuary,” should totally be a year round concept!!
I believe in year-round trying something NEW, whether that’s a new diet, new exercise routine, new wardrobe, new ATTITUDE…
And you know, with my CHALLENGE GROUP you can do all of those things at once!!! (But how crazy you go with your new gym wardrobe, I can’t be held responsible for that… ๐ )
If that sounds like something you’re interested in you can learn more here!!
Uh oh, now I’m competing with Veganuary in my own blog post.
I’m sure you can manage both at once, right?? ๐
