Feeling anxious about your upcoming wedding? Worry no more, because my secret tips for wedding planning are exactly the things that were nagging you in the back of your mind, that you couldn't quite put your finger on…
But now, you can rest easy.
I was just thinking wistfully about my wedding day and wishing I could replay that day over again, because it was just so special!! But then I thought to myself, I CAN replay my wedding day…I can do it by helping you with yours! So as someone who's been there before, let me give you my awesome tips for wedding planning, that will make sure the day is as smooth and flawless as a dream… at least, you'll remember it that way. 😉
Quick note: if you don't know Andrew Engle and I's wedding story, we didn't have the fancy videographer and photographer and the big budget. We were very in debt at the time before my business opportunity radically changed our lives!
But what is most important of all is that this is a day celebrating you two and your love. REMEMBER THAT!

So while the most important part of the wedding is, of course, the special, incredible union taking place…here are my best TIPS for wedding planning:
The Dress
Obviously you are probably going to spend a lot of time picking out the perfect wedding dress, but what good does that do if you haven't taken it for a test drive for a significant time…including the shoes…and also (I bet you didn't think about THIS!) trying to go to the bathroom with it?? Your shoes need to be broken in, and you need to know what the emergency dress escape plan looks like!
Take Care of Business
Make sure that any outstanding big projects you have to do at work (if you work outside the home) are taken care of. But when I say take care of business, I also mean wedding business to. Make sure you plan one final meeting with your wedding planner and you two are both on the same page!! They can make you aware of anything that I may have missed. 😉 From double-checking your final head count, to making sure your photographer has your list of shots, to making sure your money/gratuities are ready for your vendors and your vendors are ready for you…your plate will be full.
Oh yeah, speaking of full plate, you'll want to tip $50-$100 for every chef, and $20-$50 for every server, if your wedding is catered!!
But my tips for wedding planning aren't all about you tipping others… there are also a few of secrets that could benefit you, as well!
Treat Yourself
Some people might not want to do this because they feel like they're taking advantage, but I say, why not get all of the discounts or special deals you can on your special day?? Especially considering how prices for many services are marked up for weddings?
For example, assuming you were staying at a hotel for your wedding or honeymoon, ask about discounted or free upgrades, even if it's last minute. They may be glad to upgrade your suite in exchange for a "sweet" review! Not too much different than telling everyone at the bar it's your birthday, right? 😉
Similarly, remember that everyone is here to help you, from your bridal party to your parents to, yes, even the groomsmen! Don't be afraid to ask others what they might be willing to organize or at least provide input on, from the song list to table centerpieces.
If you are the person who's always afraid to ask for help, please DON'T be afraid! Your girls are behind you 100% for advice and support…including ME!
