Wanna know something weird? I ALWAYS knew I would marry someone who would be in the service. And when I first met Andrew England he wasn’t I thought “Oh must have just been a WEIRD dream I kept having or one of those weird Bonnie Feelings”
Then when he was chosen out of hundreds of thousands for Officer Training with no prior experience (no surprise, he is pretty incredible) and my step Dad called and said his name passed across the desk at the Pentagon. I just knew it was fate. I had been hearing Andrew talk about how he wanted to “serve his country like his grandfather” since we met. BUT how he would never want to do that if it meant we would have to be apart.
When we got into this lifestyle, we were total NEWBS! No idea what people truly sacrifice. AND WE are on the SOFT end of it all. He works at home and isn’t currently in harms way. So my heart goes out to all the spouses who are waiting, constantly, for their loved one to return home. THAT is truly sacrifice. FOR US? We have the possibility now to CHOOSE. CHOOSE because of the hard work we put in. CHOOSE because of the business we started.
When I first got into coaching and I saw that it had the possibility to be able to retire my husband so we didn’t HAVE to be on someone else’s terms, I went for it. CHOOSE for the first time in our lives what we want our every day to look like. AND NOW my BABE gets to CHOOSE what he wants to make his everyday look like. . . HE SERVED with his head held high and now its time to serve in a different way 🙂 he kept the steady job while I figured out this one and now the tables are flipped and I get to steady the business while he catches HIS true dreams. That’s what marriage is about, isn’t it? GIVING each other the best you can possibly GIVE. Giving each other the chance to chase BOTH your dreams AND to NEVER settle or get stuck! To always be reinventing. At least that’s been our agreement since we met.
He officially has 10 days left. I CANNOT WAIT. I CANNOT WAIT to hug him on that 10th day, say thank you, say welcome home for good, say LET’S GET STARTED. I love this man more than I can ever admit. And while life keeps going, days go by where I sometimes forget to say it, hard things happen, we fight, we makeup and years go by. BUT my heart still flutters just like the very first time he ever held the door open for me in that bar in West Virginia and the first time I saw him all dressed up in his “dress blues” and just like during this kiss. <3
LOVE YOU Andrew. I could not be more proud of the man you are, the service you have given and the courage you have to try something NEW.
